Heart of Play LLC is seeking a compassionate, energetic, and child-centered therapist to join our growing outpatient mental health practice. If you are passionate about helping children and families thrive in a supportive, collaborative environment, we'd love to meet you.

Evening Outpatient Child Therapist

Schedule

  • Part-time (10-19 clients per week) or Full-time (20+ clients per week)

  • Primarily afternoon and evening hours (approximately 3:00 PM–8:00 PM)

  • Flexible scheduling available

  • W-2 Employee Position

Responsibilities

  • Provide outpatient psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and families.

  • Conduct diagnostic assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.

  • Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation.

  • Collaborate with caregivers, schools, medical providers, and community partners as appropriate.

  • Participate in clinical consultation and team meetings.

  • Maintain ethical and professional standards of practice.

Qualifications

Required

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, or related behavioral health field.

  • Active Iowa license (LMSW, LISW, LMHC, LMFT, or license eligible).

  • Experience working with children and families.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team culture.

Preferred

  • Registered Play Therapist (RPT) or actively pursuing credentialing.

  • Training in Play Therapy, EMDR, Theraplay, Gestalt Play Therapy, CBT, or other evidence-based child treatment models.

  • Experience providing family therapy.

The Heart of Play is a growing group mental health practice dedicated to providing compassionate, ethical, and high-quality mental health services in the Humboldt and surrounding area. Our clinicians serve diverse clients, and our administrative team plays a vital role in supporting both client care and provider success.

Position Summary

The Administrative Office Assistant provides essential administrative and operational support to ensure the smooth functioning of the practice. This role requires strong organization skills, attention to detail, professionalism, and strict adherence to confidentiality standards (HIPAA).

Key Responsibilities

  • Answer and return phone calls, emails, and portal messages in a timely and professional manner

  • Schedule, reschedule, and cancel client appointments at clinician discretion

  • Manage clinician calendars and waitlists

  • Verify insurance benefits and enter client demographic information

  • Assist with billing support tasks (e.g., sending invoices, posting payments, following up on balances as directed)

  • Maintain electronic health records (EHR) accuracy and organization

  • Send intake paperwork and onboarding materials to new clients

  • Support practice owner with administrative tasks as needed

  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and practice policies

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree preferred)

  • 1+ year of administrative or office support experience (healthcare or mental health preferred)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities

  • Comfortable with technology, including EHR systems, email, and scheduling software

  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a mental health or healthcare setting

  • Familiarity with insurance verification and billing processes

  • Knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality requirements
